Lisa is chair of the Labor and Employment Group, residing in Atlanta. She has extensive experience representing employers – from Fortune 100 companies to venture capital start-ups – in a wide variety of industries, including the energy, telecommunications, securities, technology, multi-media, retail, textile, banking and transportation industries. She has handled a full range of employment law claims as lead counsel in numerous trials and other forums, addressing issues such as employment discrimination and other class action litigation, non-competition and trade secret controversies, executive compensation and employee benefit issues, Department of Labor wage and hour claims, including class and collective actions and related issues, and labor disputes and union-related matters.
Lisa’s practice is national in scope. She represents clients in the United States and abroad and has tried cases in federal and state courts from California to Virginia. She has experience in negotiating complex, multi-party settlements and in handling high-profile public relations media issues. Lisa is also a frequent speaker at seminars on subjects ranging from compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act to OFCCP audits to conducting internal investigations.
As a Sutherland partner, Lisa has consistently been selected by Atlanta magazine as a Georgia Super Lawyer and by Georgia Trend as one of Georgia’s “Legal Elite.” She is a member of the American Inns of Court (Lumpkin Inn) and a past President of the Younger Lawyers Division of the Atlanta Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, where she chaired its committee sponsoring the Judges’ Forum on the Bill of Rights. Lisa is a two-term member of the Alumni Board of Duke Law School and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Court Appointed Special Advocates. She currently serves on the Human Resources Committee of the Piedmont Park Conservancy and is Co-Chair of the Pro Bono Partnership’s Employment Subcommittee.
Prior to joining the firm, Lisa clerked for Judge Thomas A. Clark of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
