Deborah M. Tharnish

Deb Tharnish is a senior shareholder of the Davis Brown Law Firm with an established practice in business litigation and employment law. She was a member of the Firm's Board of Directors from 1996 through 1999, serving as President in 1998 and 1999.

Deb divides her time evenly between business litigation and employment law. Her business litigation includes contract and business tort cases and real estate assessment appeals. Her employment practice includes advice to employers to prevent employment-related problems, practice before agencies, and litigation in state and federal courts. The litigation includes all types of discrimination claims, wrongful termination claims, and restrictive covenant cases.

Membership
Deb is a member of the Litigation and Labor and Employment Law sections of the Iowa State Bar Association and a former member of its Trade Regulation Council. She previously served on the Board of the Iowa Defense Counsel and the District 5C Judicial Nominating Commission.

Deb currently serves on the boards of directors of the Iowa State University Alumni Association, Iowa Legal Aid, and the University of Iowa Law School Foundation. She recently completed six years as a member of the Des Moines Public Library Foundation. She is an alumnus of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute and the Polk County Volunteer Lawyers Project, and past president of the Board of Directors of Hawthorn Hill, of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Des Moines, and of the St. Mary of Nazareth Pastoral Council.
